Welcome to Ghana! Upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, you will be warmly greeted by Landtours representatives, who will assist with your transfer to your accommodation. Once checked in, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink at the hotel and participate in an orientation session designed to familiarize you with the itinerary and cultural highlights of your trip.

Day 2: Discovering Accra’s Highlights - November 7th
After breakfast, the day unfolded with a tour of Ghana’s vibrant capital, Accra. Starting at the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture, you explored the legacy of Pan-Africanism before visiting the iconic Independence/Black Star Square, a powerful symbol of Ghana’s freedom.
At the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, you walked through beautifully landscaped gardens and a museum showcasing the life and vision of Ghana’s first president. The journey continued at the Artiste Alliance Gallery, where vibrant art celebrated Ghana’s cultural heritage.

Day 3: Kakum Rainforest and Cape Coast Castle - November 8th
After breakfast, you left Accra and traveled through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s last surviving rainforests. There, you chose between a peaceful nature walk or the thrilling canopy walkway, suspended 40 meters above the forest floor, offering stunning views of the lush greenery.
In the afternoon, you visited the Cape Coast Castle, a haunting reminder of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Walking through the dark dungeons and learning about the lives of those held captive was a powerful and emotional experience. The castle’s West African Historical Museum added further depth to the history of this era.
Day 4: A Day of History, Art, and Flavor - November 9th
Your day begins at Elmina Castle, where the shadowy dungeons and stories of the trans-Atlantic slave trade offer a poignant glimpse into history, leaving a lasting impression of resilience and hope.
Next, at the Global Mamas workshop, you’ll join artisans to craft vibrant batik fabrics, creating your own colorful memento of Ghanaian traditions.
The day concludes in Auntie Esi’s kitchen, where you’ll prepare and savor beloved Ghanaian dishes like jollof rice and fried plantain, immersing yourself in the rich flavors of West African cuisine.
Day 5: A Cultural Journey to Atomkwa Village - November 10th
After breakfast, you will travel to Atomkwa village in the Central Region, where a unique cultural experience awaits. Upon arrival, the rhythmic sounds of traditional drumming and vibrant dancing by the villagers will welcome you, creating an atmosphere of celebration.
A highlight of the visit will be a courtesy call on the village chief and elders, a meaningful gesture of respect and connection. You will then participate in a naming ceremony, a cherished tradition where you’ll receive a Ghanaian name, symbolizing your inclusion in the local community. This special moment will be marked by the presentation of a gift, celebrating your new identity as part of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
Day 6: A Day of Wildlife, Culture, and Relaxation - November 11th
After breakfast, head to the Shai Hills Game Reserve for a trek through savannah plains, spotting wildlife like antelope and baboons. Explore the Obonu Tem and Se Yo caves, uncovering the history of the Shai people and their ancestral home.
Next, visit the Cedi Bead Factory in the Eastern Region to learn about Krobo beadmaking, a tradition marking family status and special occasions. Participate in crafting your own beads and explore the market for unique keepsakes.
In the afternoon, unwind at the Royal Senchi Resort along the Volta River. Relax in the lush nature park and enjoy a peaceful boat ride with views of the Adomi Bridge, before returning to Accra.

Day 8: Departure to the United States - November 13th
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for airport for a Domestic flight to back to the United States.
