Gently waving palm trees, pristine beaches, terraced green rice fields, sacred temples hidden in lush jungles…

Welcome to Bali, the Island of the Gods. If you’re looking for the perfect island paradise to escape from day-to-day life and reconnect with yourself, then a trip to Bali could change your life. Let Bali welcome you with open arms and astound you with her unique beauty and charm on these five extraordinary excursions.

1) Visit a temple on a lake. Pura Ulun Danu Tamblingan is a sacred temple located on Tamblingan Lake, tucked away in a secluded area. During the rainy season, the waters rise and give the impression that the temple is floating on the lake! The moss-covered ancient buildings exude peace and tranquility and are still used by locals for their religious practices. Enjoy a moment of serenity away from the crowds, as this is a bit of a hidden gem and a true authentic piece of Balinese culture.

2) Watch the sunrise from the top of an active volcano. This is worth waking up early for. You’ll hike a winding trail with a local guide up to the top of Mt. Batur, one of Bali’s live volcanoes, in time to witness a breathtakingly beautiful sunrise. The sunrise won’t be the only thing taking your breath away, as this can be a more challenging hike, so be prepared for that, but it’s worth it!

3) Fly over the jungle canopy. Ok, not literally – but the Bali swing experience is as close to flying as you can get! Capture the perfect Instagrammable moment as you sail out over the trees on one of these exhilarating swing experiences. If that sounds a bit too exciting for you, there are also operators who have “nests,” which are cozy little enclosures that hang out over the jungle – the ideal place to sit and reflect on the beauty surrounding you!

4) Commune with sacred monkeys. When you think “Monkey Forest,” you probably think of a cheesy tourist attraction where you pay to feed tame monkeys little cups of food, but the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud is a truly surreal experience. In addition to being a conservation and research area, the forest is filled with sacred temples used for ceremonies and offerings to Hindu gods. The mission of the Monkey Forest is to promote peace and tranquility and to foster a connection with the natural world. And yes, you’ll be able to interact with adorable monkeys.

5) Get wet. The pristine water surrounding this island offers a multitude of aquatic activities. For the more adventurous, try your hand (or feet) at surfing Bali’s legendary waves. If you’d like to get up close and personal with the sea life, there are plenty of places for snorkeling. To get an even closer look, why not try scuba diving? Local dive centers offer one-day courses, which allow you to sample scuba diving with an instructor. If all this sounds far too active, grab a book and lounge on the beach – the choice is yours!

From the exquisite beaches to the awe-inspiring temples, Bali is a true haven for the discerning traveler. If you prefer travel experiences that nourish your soul, as well as provide stories to tell and pics for the ‘gram, then start planning your next trip to Bali.

We promise you’ll thank us later.
