6 Things You Absolutely Need to Know Before Your Visit to Paris

6 Things You Absolutely Need to Know Before Your Visit to Paris

Ah, Paris. The city of light, love, and all things French.

If you’re like most people, Paris is at the top of your list of places to visit. And with good reason – it’s one of the world’s most beautiful and romantic cities. If you’re lucky enough to be visiting this fab city for the first time, there are a few things you need to know before you go.

So, before you book your tickets, here are six tips to help make Paris your best trip yet!

It’s Crowded

Paris is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, so be prepared for large crowds. If you plan on visiting popular attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral, it’s best to buy tickets in advance to avoid long lines. If you want to avoid the crowds, visit during the off-season (November-March), or head to the landmarks in the early mornings to get that Insta-worthy photo without anyone else in it.

Paris Neighborhoods

Another thing to know before visiting Paris is that the city is huge! It’s divided into 20 arrondissements (districts), each with unique character and charm. To make the most of your trip, pick a few neighborhoods that interest you and explore them thoroughly. The most popular tourist districts are the 1st (Louvre, Notre Dame), 4th (Marais), and 8th (Champs-Élysées), but don’t forget about the other arrondissements, which offer a more authentic Parisian experience.

It’s Not Cheap

Paris is an expensive city, so be prepared to spend a lot of money on food, drinks, and souvenirs. If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of ways to save money, such as eating at affordable restaurants, buying groceries instead of dining out and avoiding tourist traps.

Getting Around in Paris

Paris is a large city, so getting around can be tricky. The best way to get around is by using the public transportation system, which includes the metro (subway), buses, and trams. Use an app like Citymapper to plan out your route in advance and make sure you have a valid ticket before boarding any transportation. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can venture out by renting a bike or walking but be aware that Paris is very hilly. If you can handle the hills, walking is the best way to see the city, and best of all, it’s free!

When it Comes to the Fashion, Less is More.

Paris is known for its fashion, so don’t forget to pack your best clothes! But that doesn’t necessarily mean your flashiest clothes. Parisians are all about understated elegance. Avoid wearing anything too extravagant or obvious if you want to blend in with the locals. Wearing clothes with too many designer logos may make you a target for pickpockets.

Parlez vous français?

French is the official language in Paris, but you’ll find that many people also speak English. If you don’t know any French, don’t worry! Although many people in Paris speak English, learning a few key phrases in French is always a good idea before your trip. Bonjour (hello), s’il vous plaît (please), merci (thank you), and excusez-moi (excuse me) are essential. Just make an effort to learn a few essential words, and you’ll be able to get by just fine!

5 Reasons you Should use a Honeymoon Travel Specialist for your Honeymoon

5 Reasons you Should use a Honeymoon Travel Specialist for your Honeymoon

Planning a honeymoon? Doesn’t it seem like one of the best parts of your wedding
celebration is suddenly overshadowed by everything else you have to do before and after the big day? I’m sure many wedding couples can tell you they didn’t get to go on their honeymoon right after their wedding. In this blog post, I will share five reasons why you should use a honeymoon travel specialist and the benefits that working with one can offer you and your spouse for planning an unforgettable honeymoon.

1. Knowledge of a variety of honeymoon properties:

Honeymoon travel specialists have knowledge of a variety of destinations & resort brands that are a cut above other types of resorts & properties for an amazing
honeymoon.

Resorts that will offer you…

  • Privacy
  • Romantic extras like candlelight dinners and a couple’s massage
  • Perks/amenities
  • Romantic & pampering suites
  • Amazing spa experiences

All of these details are vitally important when it comes to having a great honeymoon experience

2. The Best Honeymoon Packages:

A honeymoon travel consultant knows the best honeymoon packages that will enhance your honeymoon and the requirements to qualify for them!

Too often, couples think that they can show up and receive the honeymoon amenities without understanding the qualifications or how to set it up in advance. Unfortunately, they are highly disappointed when they don’t get any of the perks and that is a sour way to start your happily ever after.

3. Setting Up Special Experiences:

A honeymoon travel consultant not only can do all of the above, but also will recommend, design, & set up unique and special experiences for your honeymoon.

Note: If you are working with a “honeymoon specialist” who doesn’t guide you or recommend special experiences for you to enjoy on your honeymoon, then you are working with the wrong person.

Here are a just a few of the special experiences a honeymoon specialist can design and set up to take your honeymoon from good to AMAZING!

  • Set up a private upgraded transfer with VIP service.
  • Schedule a couple’s massage/breakfast in bed/picnic on the beach.
  • Set up off-site excursions, like a cultural tour, ziplining, swimming with dolphins, rum tasting, and so much more
  • As well as many other recommend must-do activities, & sites to see, or
places to eat that you can only experience in your area.

4.Giving You VIP Status:

Your honeymoon consultant can make sure you and your new spouse are wowed upon
arrival from the minute you step foot on your resort by…

a. Personally contacting the resort concierge and sales team to notify them that they have VIP honeymooners arriving.
b. Sharing any special requests that you may have with the appropriate team member to make sure they are implemented! (It’s not just a comment on a booking that we hope gets seen).
c. Following up on the honeymoon amenities to ensure you receive them.

5. Skipping the 1-800-wait-on-hold and crossing your fingers that you get the help you
need.

A travel specialist can help simplify the process of planning and coordinating your dream honeymoon. He or she can assist your with all the little details like transportation, excursions, and suggestions for what to do on your honeymoon once you have arrived at your destination. They are the experts, so leave the planning to them so you can focus on the more important aspects of your wedding.

Cruising and Eating Like a Foodie: The Best Options on a Cruise Ship

Cruising and Eating Like a Foodie: The Best Options on a Cruise Ship

Cruising and eating; eating and cruising—that’s a match made in heaven! There’s nothing quite like taking a cruise and indulging your taste buds with the many delicious options available on board.

Cruise ships are full of restaurants and buffets that feature everything from classic comfort foods to exotic dishes. So, if you’re looking for a truly unique culinary experience, a cruise might be the perfect option for you.

Let’s take a look at the best options for eating on your next cruise.

All You Can Eat Buffets: What’s better than a buffet? How about a never-ending buffet filled with all your favorite foods? Think tacos, burgers, pasta, pizza, and more!

The Main Dining Room: Many people like the ease and convenience of the buffet option. But the real magic lies in the main dining room. The main dining room features a variety of dishes designed to make your mouth happy.

Don’t be surprised to see everything from the classic surf and turf to amazing seafood dishes. And the best part is you don’t have to choose one. You can pick as many menu items as you like. It’s all included.

Specialty Dining Experiences: You can enjoy a truly unique dining experience for an extra fee. Seafood restaurants, Japanese steakhouses, and even vegan restaurants can be found on many cruise ships. These specialty dining experiences will satisfy your tastebuds and give you a unique cruise experience.

Your Port of Call: Every port has a variety of restaurants that offer local cuisine. For example, you can find classic fish tacos in Mexico, the famous jerk chicken on Ochos Rios, and the signature Haitian dish of Griot and Pikliz in Labadee. Many cruise ships actually pick up fresh ingredients in port, so you know your meals are fresh and locally sourced.

Ice Cream Machines: Finally, almost all ships have ice cream machines located all over. That means you can satisfy your sweet tooth with a big scoop of ice cream at any time of the day or night.

Now that you know the options, here are some tips to make the most of your cruising and eating experience.

Make a list: Before you board the ship, list foods you want to try. Check them off as you go.

Make your allergies and dietary restrictions known: If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, let your server know when you make your reservation. They will be able to help you select dishes that meet your needs.

Don’t get too comfortable: It’s easy to stick to one food place once you’ve found your favorite. Don’t do it. Trying new things is important, especially if you’re on vacation. If you get too comfortable, you might miss out on some of the best food on board.

Don’t say no: Try something new! Don’t be afraid to sample dishes you’ve never heard of before.

Make reservations: Many cruise ships require reservations for specialty restaurants, which tend to sell out quickly.

Take your diet plan… and burn it: It is virtually impossible to stick to a diet plan when you’re on the cruise, so don’t even bother.

Eating aboard a cruise ship will be one of your favorite things about cruising. Whether you choose buffets, specialty restaurants, main dining, or even room service, there are plenty of ways to enjoy delicious meals while sailing across oceans and rivers.

So grab a fork (or two), pack plenty of sweatpants, and set sail for some of the best food you’ll ever eat!

Happy cruising and bon appetit!

Everything You Need to Know About Cartagena: One of the Most Popular Destinations in Latin America.

Everything You Need to Know About Cartagena: One of the Most Popular Destinations in Latin America.

Ready for a cultural adventure! It’s time you indulged yourself in the Afro-Colombian culture of sunny Cartagena.

Spend endless days and nights in a beautifully preserved colonial town on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Lap up all the cocktails you can consume in the tropical heat and enjoy the tourist attractions.

Not sure if it’s right for you? Here’s what you need to know.

1. You can take a boat to the islands

If you need some white sand and clear turquoise waters to complete your trip, then don’t despair. The beautiful islands of Islas del Rosario, Islas del Encanto, and Playa Blanca are just a short boat trip away.

These are great spots to snorkel, get a few great shots, or just lay there in all your glory. If you have some time to kill, spend the night on one of these islands, or make it an island-hopping adventure.

2. Cartagena does get crowded

Because of its easy access and affordable flight prices, you can’t be surprised that this place gets crowded. If you’re traveling solo, this might be an exciting way to meet new people.

On days you prefer fewer people, try hitting the streets much earlier in the morning. You will experience this gorgeous city from a different perspective during the quieter hours. And get those great snaps with less obstruction.

3. No need to hire a car

Exploring the many attractions of Cartagena is pretty simple by foot or taxi. However, if you’re keen on the main attractions in the city, you can easily do this on foot.

For everything else, use a taxi service. Uber works well here, and Easytaxi is their local alternative.

Always carry small bills for the taxi rides so you’re not left struggling for change. Also, before the

journey, confirm the price of the trip with the driver.

3. You can dance like nobody’s watching!

Cartagena is a great place to let your hair down and go dancing. There are countless clubs and bars, but the best ones are in the old town. The old town is the perfect place to go dancing because of the incredible live music, friendly people, and nonstop dancing! And the best part is you won’t have to worry if you don’t have rhythm or lack the best moves. Everyone else will be too busy dancing to notice.

4. Don’t delay booking your room

I can’t stress this enough! Book early to secure a comfy place to rest your pretty little head. Because of Cartagena’s popularity, the good spots get booked faster than you would expect.

You want to ensure that your room has air conditioning, a good bed, and great amenities! If you wait too long, you’ll be left with the less desirable options.

5. It’s hot, hot, hot there

Be prepared for the heat that hits you as you get out of that airport. That 80% to 90% humidity is on another level.

Cartagena experiences humidity all year round, so no matter when you go, ensure you’re prepared to experience the heat. Luckily, your room (cause you’re going to book early) and most restaurants and cafes have air conditioning.

Remember to stay hydrated, use plenty of sunscreen, and don’t forget those floppy hats.

A visit to Cartagena means visiting a lively paradise with plenty for you to do and see. Since it’s considered one of the most popular destinations in Latin America, I know you won’t be disappointed.

Why Travel is the Highest Form of Self Care

Why Travel is the Highest Form of Self Care

If you’re looking to recharge your batteries, there’s no better way to do it than by packing your bags and taking a much-needed vacation. Traveling opens you up to new experiences, cultures, and ways of thinking—and it’s also one of the most effective forms of self-care around.

Here’s why.

It Gives You Control

Whenever you need self-care, it is often because you feel out of control in your life. Travel gives you control since you’re the one who decides where you go when you leave, and what you do. If you want to have a vacation where you are on the move every single day and have adventure after adventure, then you can. If you want a vacation where you’re just lounging around, watching cable, and ordering room service, you can do that too. You’ve got total control; nothing can shake that, and it can be very empowering.

It Can Help Reduce Stress Levels

We all know how frustrating it can be to be stuck in a rut day after day, feeling like we’re just going through the motions. When you travel, you give yourself a much-needed break from the hustle, bustle, and stressors of everyday life. Even knowing you have a trip coming up can be therapeutic. It gives you something to look forward to and some light at the end of your busy tunnel.

It Can Help Improve Your Mental Well-Being

In addition to reducing stress levels, travel can also have a positive impact on your mental well-being. A change of scenery can do wonders for your mood and getting out into the world can help put things into perspective. Seeing new places and meeting new people can inspire creativity and boost self-confidence. If you’re feeling burned out or bogged down by everyday life, taking some time off to travel may be what you need to jumpstart your mental health journey.

It Can Help You Heal Your Wounds

Travel works as self-care because you get to heal, go somewhere else, recover from all of your problems, and maybe even have some fun while you do it. No matter your problems, even a short vacation to a city where no one knows you can be the reset you need.

It Can Help You Disconnect from Technology

In our modern world, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the never-ending cycle of checking our phones, refreshing our social media feeds, and working late into the night. When we’re always plugged in, it can be challenging to relax and unwind. Travel gives us the perfect opportunity to disconnect and enjoy some much-needed face-to-face time with family and friends—or even some time alone if that’s what we need.

It Gives You Time to Focus on Your Physical Health

When we’re always on the go, it’s tough to find time to focus on our physical health—but traveling provides the perfect opportunity to do just that. Staying active while on vacation can help ward off jet lag, increase energy levels, and improve overall fitness. Hiking, walking, and biking tours to unfamiliar places can also be a great way to explore your destination while getting some exercise at the same time.

It Just Makes You Happy

Research continues to show that regular vacationers are generally more satisfied with life. And at work, those who prioritize getting away are less stressed and perform the best on the job.

And who could blame them? Getting to experience new cultures, relax in different settings, and simply unplug can do wonders for your overall well-being and feeling of happiness.

There’s no doubt about it; traveling is one of the best things you can do for yourself. So the next time you’re feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, or just plain burnt out, consider getting away from it all. Not only will you relax and recharge, but you’ll also get to enjoy all the many benefits of an incredible vacation.

So, what are you waiting for? Request a quote, and let’s start planning the self-care getaway you need!
